Paul's RV-9A one-day log view8/16/20044 hours: Wing skins and cabin frameThe tedious job of deburring and dimpling all of the wing bottom skins is finally done. I may try to prime them tomorrow. I'm working on these guys again for a couple reasons: It's time to mate the wings to the fuselage, and I found out that I will hopefully be getting a hangar soon. So once I get the wings done I can get them out of the garage for good.
I spent a long while measuring the cabin frame and trimming it. The edges of the frame are not square, so you really need to use the dimensions given on the plan to get the right shape. (Including the height) I was looking ahead at how to mount the frame to the fuselage and noticed that the aft deck is going to be in the way. You have to trim this thing in about 5 different places and it looks like I missed one. I'll need to chop it at the arrow...in assembly, since it is heavily riveted already. I guess I will try to hack saw it without damaging the longeron underneath.
